Does it matter how a piece of jewelry is made?
Does it matter if a work of art is an original or a copy? To be sure, for some it does, for others not. Generally speaking, however, all things equal, people will prefer the original over a copy. For one thing, an original is the only one of its kind, whereas there can be many copies.

Riccardo makes originals. Often the design is a unique outcome of a conversation between the client and Riccardo. That is to say, the client has a definite role to play in the design. This gives a sense of participation and ownership in the piece which enriches its emotional content. In short, the piece has more personal meaning. Meaningfulness is a primary objective for Riccardo.

Uniqueness is also symbolically important. When a piece of jewelry is meant to show a special commitment, as in a marriage vow, then the piece should reveal the uniqueness of its expression. Symbols are important and should be given careful consideration. A store bought ring will serve the purpose, basically, but what does it symbolise--to you, to the person, to the occasion? Think it through.
